CEO of Philanthropy Australia, Jack Heath, tells us how we compare to other countries when it comes to giving to charitable causes. He also talks about bequests and the part that the charitable dollar plays in transforming lives and communities.

Heath has been a leader in the charitable sector for over two decades and has served as a diplomat, speechwriter and adviser to politicians including former Prime Minister Paul Keating. He is a passionate believer in the ability of philanthropy to change lives and be a driving force for good in a time of diminished trust in institutions.

On the flip side, in Jeff’s Café, listeners consider their own attitudes to philanthropy and put forward viewpoints that include increasing taxes to replace the need for donations.

Women’s rights advocate, journalist and author, Dr Anne Summers AO (pictured) joins us for Nostalgia Town. She talks about her growing up years and her passion for women’s rights.  In 2021 Summers was appointed a Paul Ramsay Foundation Fellow at the University of Technology, Sydney UTS to research domestic violence in Australia. She touches on her findings on incidents and nature of domestic violence.

In Money Extra, Heidri Brook of Aged & Disability Advocates Australia talks about the costs of aged care.
