Nationally, 1.3 million seniors receive aged care services. Lex Marinos and Patricia ‘Little Pattie’ Amphlett talk with CEO of Aged and Community Services of Australia, Paul Sadler. He explains aspects of accessing the system and discusses the acute work force crisis which has had such a devastating impact on care.

In Jeff’s Café we talk about residential aged care with representatives from the Millennial, Gen X and Boomer generations – Elise, Zara and Cheryl Kernot (former leader of the Democrats).  They discuss the anxiety experienced when placing relatives in aged care and anticipating going through the process themselves.

In our Nostalgia Town segment we chat with the inspirational Valmai Dempsey, 2022 Australian Senior of the Year. The 71-year-old has dedicated her adult life to volunteering with St John Ambulance.

Marc Bineham joins us for Money Extra. He urges seniors to consider the emotional and lifestyle changes that are a part of the retirement journey, along with the big question: “Will I have enough?”

And finally, in our new Steppin’ Out segment, we head to the Shoalhaven on South Coast NSW and meet Jenny Armstrong .  Jenny is a retired registered nurse, mother and grandmother who first became involved in community radio as a volunteer 17 years ago. She has worked at 92.7 Bay, Basin FM and currently at Triple U FM. Jenny researchers, producers, writes and presents two shows a week for Triple U.
